STOP/p Button
Press to stop the tape. Press to select an item in the VCR menu. Or, if
you have a Magnavox, Philips, or Philips Magnavox TV, press when in TV
mode to move down one row or selection in the TV menu.
CBL/DBS Button
Press to operate the Cable Box or Direct Broadcast System. Details are on
page 22.
SPEED Button
Press to select the recording speed (SP, LP, or SLP). Details are on pages
37 and 56.
STATUS/EXIT Button
Press to access or remove the on-screen status display. Details are on page
27. Press to exit on-screen menus. Or, if you have a Magnavox, Philips, or
Philips Magnavox TV, press the TV button, then press the STATUS/ EXIT
button, to see a TV status display or to remove the TV menu.
CH(annel) o/p Buttons
Press to change channels at the VCR, TV, Cable Box, or Direct Broadcast
System.
INDEX SEARCH Button
Press to fast forward or rewind to the starting points of programs that
you have recorded on a tape. Details are on page 47.
F(rame). ADV(ance) Button
Press when in Still mode to advance the picture one frame at a time.
Details are on page 51.
VCR/TV Button
Use to select VCR or TV position.
● VCR Position
Use to watch a tape, to watch a program while recording it, or to watch a
TV program (changing channels at the VCR). If the VCR light appears on
the display panel of the VCR, it is in VCR position.
● TV Position
Use to watch a TV program (changing channels at the TV) or to watch
one program while recording another. Details are on page 33. If the VCR
light doesn’t appear on the display panel, the VCR is in TV position.
TV Button
Press to operate the TV. Details are on page 21.
QUICK SEARCH Button
Press to perform a Quick Search. Details are on page 49.
TIME SEARCH Button
Press to fast forward or rewind the tape a specific length of time. Details
are on page 46.
VCR Button
Press to operate the VCR.
• Press the VCR button before pressing other VCR buttons; press the TV button before pressing other TV buttons;
press the CBL/DBS button before pressing other Cable Box/Direct Broadcast System buttons.
• The buttons with a shaded description may also operate features of your TV, Cable Box, or Direct Broadcast
System.
• Buttons that are shaded in the illustration light up for five seconds when you press any button on the remote
control.
