INTRODUCTION
SpeakerCraft's BassX Dual 8 Powered Subwoofers provides accurate bass to any audio system, and is designed to work in conjunction with
your other audio components. The BassX Dual 8 can be connected to any surround sound receiver that has a subwoofer output, any receiver
that has a built-in preamplifier, or any receiver that has speaker level outputs.
PLACEMENT
For optimal performance, the BassX Dual 8 should be placed in a corner along the same wall as the front speakers. The units are not shielded,
so do not place them too close to video devices. When choosing a place for the BassX Dual 8, please keep the following in mind: Placing the
BassX Dual 8 in a corner will increase the bass output, for details on placement consult your local SpeakerCraft dealer.
DO
• Place the BassX Dual 8 with its feet resting on a solid flat level surface.
• Place the BassX Dual 8 in a well-vented area to provide proper cooling. In areas that lack proper ventilation, such as tight cabinets or
racks, it may be necessary to install small fans to create air movement.
DON’T
• Obstruct the driver of the BassX Dual 8 as that will hinder performance.
• Place the BassX Dual 8 in any position other than horizontal with the feet down. Never place on its side or resting on the back where the
terminals are located.
• Place the BassX Dual 8 near heat sources, or in an area that it would be exposed to moisture.
INSTALLATION
Voltage Selector (See Figure 1)
For use in the U.S., the S8 comes preset from the factory at 115V. For use in other
countries, the voltage may be set at 230V. (Please note that an outlet adapter or
alternate power cord may be required.)
Connecting the Line Level Audio Inputs (See Diagram 2)
If your surround sound receiver or amplifier has only one subwoofer output, simply
plug it into the Left Line Input. If your receiver or amplifier has a built-in preamplifier,
the left and right pre-outputs can be connected to the Left and Right Line Inputs.
CAUTION: Only make connections when the BassX-Dual 8 is turned off.
Connecting the Speaker Wires (See Diagram 1)
Follow these instructions when using the Speaker Level Outputs of your receiver or
amplifier to connect to the BassX Dual 8.
For best results, use speaker wire that is at least 18 gauge. For runs longer than 75
feet, 14 gauge wire is recommended.
Wire larger than 14 gauge is not recommended because it may not fit into the
connector. For best results, strip all wire insulation no more than
3
8" from the end
before inserting into the connector.
1. Strip the speaker wires’ insulation
3
8" from the end.
2. Connect the wires from the speakers to the appropriate location above “To
Speakers”. Please observe proper polarity of the connections (+ to + and – to –).
3. Connect the amplifier’s or receiver's speaker outputs to the appropriate location
above “From Receiver”. Please observe proper polarity of the connections (+ to
+ and – to –). CAUTION: If the “To Speakers” and “From Receiver” connections
are reversed, a short could result across the amplifier or receiver output terminals,
which may seriously damage your amplifier or receiver. Please double-check all
connections before turning on your amplifier or receiver.
