Settings for the Speakers
(SPEAKER SETUP)
To obtain the best possible surround sound,
set the size of the speakers you have
connected and their distance from your
listening position. Then use the test tone to
adjust the volume and the balance of the
speakers to the same level.
Select “SPEAKER SETUP” in the setup
display. For details, see “Using the Setup
Display” (page 65).
The default settings are underlined.
To return to the default setting
Select the item, then press CLEAR.

When you do not connect center or rear
speakers, or move the rear speakers, set the
parameters for FRONT, CENTER, REAR,
and SUBWOOFER. The default settings are
underlined.
• FRONT
LARGE: Normally select this.
— SMALL: Select this if the small
speakers are used for the front speaker.
• CENTER
LARGE: Normally select this.
— SMALL: Select this if the small
speaker is used for the center speaker.
— NONE: Select this if no center speaker
is used.

LARGE (BEHIND, LOW), LARGE
(BEHIND, HIGH), LARGE (SIDE,
LOW), LARGE (SIDE, HIGH),
SMALL (BEHIND, LOW), SMALL
(BEHIND, HIGH), SMALL (SIDE,
LOW), SMALL (SIDE, HIGH):
Specify the size, position, and height to
implement the Digital Cinema
Surround modes in the sound field
(page 48) properly. For details, see
“Specifying the rear speaker position
and height” as below.
— NONE: Select this if no rear speaker is
used.
• SUBWOOFER
YES: Select this if the subwoofer is
used.
— NONE: Select this if no subwoofer is
used.
Notes
When you select an item, the sound cuts off for a
moment.
Depending on the settings, the subwoofer may
output excessive sound.
Specifying the rear speaker position
and height
If you select anything other than “NONE” in
“REAR,” specify the size, position, and
height of the rear speakers. When you use
normal size speakers, select “LARGE.”
When you use small speakers, select
“SMALL.” The default setting is underlined.
