TROUBLESHOOTING
If a problem should arise, first check the following.
1. Are the connections correct?
2. Have you operated the receiver according to the operating instructions?
3. Are the speakers and other components operating properly?
If this unit is not operating properly, check the items listed in the table below. Should the problem persist,
there may be a malfunction. Disconnect the power immediately and contact your store of purchase.
Symptom
Power does not turn on
when POWER
ON/STANDBY switch is
pressed.
Theres no sound
coming from the
speakers?
Sound is coming from
only one speaker?
Nothing happens when
remote control buttons
are pressed.
Cause
Mains cords plug is not
plugged into wall outlet.
The speaker cables are not
connected properly.
The volume is set at minimum.
The CR601 is muted.
A pair of headphones is
connected.
The wrong input source is
selected.
A connecting cable may be
damaged.
The other speakers cable is
not connected properly.
Are the batteries dead?
Is the remote control unit too
far away?
Is there an obstacle between
the remote control unit and the
main unit?
You have pressed the wrong
button.
Batteries are not set in their
proper direction (ª and ·).
Measures
Plug the mains cord in
properly.
Check the speaker
connections and make sure
that none of the wires are
touching each other, other
connectors, or any metal parts.
Turn up the volume.
Unmute the CR601.
Turn down the volume, then
disconnect the headphones .
Check the input source setting.
Check your connecting cables
for signs of damage and
replace as necessary.
Check the speaker
connections and make sure

touching each other, other
connectors, or any metal parts.
Replace the batteries with new
ones.
Operate from closer to the
main unit.
Remove the obstacle.
Press the desired button.
Set the batteries in the proper
direction.

Radio waves are weak.
Noise from a TV or
interference in the signals sent
from the broadcast station.
Signals transmitted over the
main cord are modulated by
the power source frequency.
Ensure that DAB coverage
exists in your area.
At the time of publishing this
manual not many secondary
services are available, this will
increase as more DAB stations
start broadcasting.
DAB like other digital media is
good at producing quality
audio from a low level signal,
however if this signal, level is
too low a burbling sound can
sometimes be heard.
Youre too far away from the
transmitter. Or, your FM
antenna is in the wrong
position or pointing in the
wrong direction. Or, the
stations signal strength is
poor.
The power cord has not been
connected to a wall outlet, or
the power has been turned off
for an extended period.
Make sure that the CR601 is
not subjected to direct sunshine
or inverter-type uorescent
lights. Relocate if necessary.
Connect the leads properly.
Point the antenna in the right
direction.
Install an outdoor antenna.
Turn off the TV.
Change the position of the
loop antenna.
Install an outdoor antenna.
Insert the plug in the opposite
direction.
Install an outdoor antenna.
Check that antenna is
connected.
If a secondary service station is
available, > will be displayed
in the Ensemble No. & Freq.

Use the CR601s Tuning aid
while repositioning your
antenna to get the maximum
signal strength and reduce this
noise.
Switch the FM Mode to Mono.
Adjust the position, height, and
direction of your FM antenna.
Install an outdoor FM antenna,
preferably one with many
elements. Installing an out-
door antenna is a specialists
job, so contact your nearest
dealer for advice.
Preset your favourite radio
stations again. The power cord
must be plugged into a wall
outlet a few times each month
in order to preserve the presets.
