Adjusting sound
Once you have adjusted the sound, the adjustment is stored
for each source.
You can also adjust the sound using the choice menu
except the DSP effect level (see page 55).
Before you start, remember...
There is a time limit in doing the following steps. If the setting is
canceled before you finish, start from step 2 again.
From the remote control ONLY:

1 Press SOUND.
The 10 keys are activated for sound adjustments.
2 Press TEST to check if you can hear the
sounds through the speakers at the equal
level.
“TEST TONE L” and the corresponding signal indicator
starts flashing on the display, and the test tone comes out
of the speakers in the following order:
•You can adjust the speaker output levels without
outputting the test tone.
Left front speaker (L) ]
Center speaker (C) ]
Right front speaker (R) ]
Right surround speaker (RS) ]
Surround back speaker (SB) ]
Left surround speaker (LS) ]

3 Adjust the speaker output levels
(10 dB to +10 dB).
Adjust the center speaker, right and left surround
speakers, and surround back speaker levels by
comparing to the sound from the front speakers.
To adjust the center speaker level, press CENTER +/–.
To adjust the right surround speaker level, press
SURR-R +/–.
To adjust the surround back speaker level, press
S-BACK +/–.
To adjust the left surround speaker level, press
SURR-L +/–.
4 Press TEST again to stop the test tone.
5 For DAP modes only:
Press EFFECT to select the effect level (1
to 5).
Each time you press the button, the effect level changes
as follows:
DSP EFFECT 1 ] DSP EFFECT 2 ] DSP EFFECT 3 ]
DSP EFFECT 4 ] DSP EFFECT 5 ]

As the number increases, the selected mode becomes
stronger (normally, set it to “DSP EFFECT 3”).
After adjusting sound
Press DVD, FM/AM or VCR/TV CONTROL you selected as the
source before sound adjustment.
You can operate your target source again.
NOTES:
When NO is selected for the surround back speaker (see page
24), the test tone does not come out of the surround back speaker
and you cannot adjust the surround back speakers output level.
The test tone for the subwoofer does not output. To adjust the
subwoofer output level, see page 17.
