Troubleshooting
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Power plug is not inserted securely.
Region code of the inserted disc does not
match the player.
Microcomputer malfunction due to
lightning or static electricity.
Moisture condensation caused by a
sudden change of temperature or
humidity.
The disc does not allow the operation, or
an unplayable disc is inserted.
When you press 0 while pressing down 7
on the player in standby mode, the tray
lock function is activated.
The player is connected to a VCR directly
and the copyguard function is activated.
With some discs, the picture may be
blurred when [PICTURE SOURCE] is set
to [FILM] or [AUTO].
Multiple devices are connected using
multiple connectors; the SCART
connector, the S-VIDEO connector and
composite connector.
VIDEO SIGNAL SELECTOR on the rear is
set to “Y/C.”
VIDEO SIGNAL SELECTOR on the rear is
set to “RGB/COMP.”
[D.RANGE CONTROL] preference is set
to other than [TV MODE].
[OUTPUT LEVEL] preference is set to
[STANDARD]
MP3/WMA disc is recorded with the
“packet writing (UDF format).”
The file is copy protected.
The file is recorded with a bit rate under
48 kbps.
PROBLEM
The power does not come on.
“REGION CODE ERROR!” is shown on
the TV screen.
Operation is not possible.
[LOCK] is displayed on the display
window and the disc tray does not
open.
Picture is noisy.
Color and brightness do not display
correctly.
Picture is colorless when connecting a
TV to the composite video out jack of
the player.
No picture is appears when connecting
a TV to the S-VIDEO output of the
player.
DVD VIDEO disc playback sound level
is lower than TV broadcast sound level.
Analog audio output is distorted.
No sound comes out.
Files (tracks) are not played in the
recorded order.
WMA files cannot be played back.
SOLUTION
Plug in securely.
Check the region code of the disc printed on the disc
jacket.
Turn off the power and unplug the power cord, then
connect the power cord again.
Turn off the power, then turn it on a few hours later.
Check and replace the disc (see page 35).
The disc tray cannot be opened or closed in this
status. To release this status, press 0 while pressing
down 7 on the player in standby mode.
Connect the player so that the picture signal flows
directly to the TV.
Set [PICTURE SOURCE] to [VIDEO (NORMAL)] or
[VIDEO (ACTIVE)].
Connect only one cable to the connector you want to
use.
Set the VIDEO SIGNAL SELECTOR on the rear to
“RGB/COMP.”
Set the VIDEO SIGNAL SELECTOR on the rear to
“Y/C.”
Set the [D.RANGE CONTROL] preference to [TV
MODE] (see page 56).
Set the [OUTPUT LEVEL] preference to [LOW] (see
page 56).
It cannot be played.
This player plays the files in the alphabetic order.
So, the playback order can vary.
The player cannot play copy protected files.
The player does not support such WMA files.
