ALPHA X-1 AND ALPHA B-3
Alpha B-3
2 x 18” PWH SUBWOOFER-SYSTEM
The Alpha B-3 system is a 2 x 18“
PWH subwoofer system employing
Planar Waveguide technology.
A PWH horn is a planar waveguide
horn with a Helmholtz resonator
placed inside the wave guide. The
resulting 6 to 7 dB gain in SPL
in the low frequency range is a
product of the interaction between
the resonance of the waveguide
and that of the Helmholtz resonator.
At the same time, the design of the
PWH subwoofer is such as to limit
the cone‘s excursion, protecting
the diaphragm and guaranteeing
outstandingly accurate impulse
reproduction, a very wide dynamic
range, extremely low distortion,
and prolonged reliable operation.
alpha B-3 systems offer directi-
vity in the low-frequency range
down to 30 Hz. They combine the
advantages of both direct-radiating
and horn-loaded systems, and –
thanks to their unique design – are
markedly superior to conventional
solutions.
Dynamic protections safeguard the
two 18“ speakers reliably against
critical power levels as well as
short-term thermal overload.
What was designed without
compromise remains free from
compromise: in their almost
fifteen-year history, Alpha
systems have never tasted defeat;
and their triumphant progress
continues apace, with successful
installations all over the globe.
SYSTEM DRIVES
To drive the system, we recommend
high-performance power ampli-
fiers from DYNACORD‘s PowerH
series equipped with the RCM-26
Digital FIR Controller. Naturally,
optimized settings (including FIR
filter linearization) are available
for alpha systems too through the
use of IRIS-Net software.
The Alpha X-1 system is a
horn-loaded, three-way loudspeaker
system.
The two vented 15“ loudspeakers
combine with a conical short horn
to deliver extremely precise and
punchy midrange and low frequen-
cy reproduction that extends right
down to 80 Hz and beyond. The 2“
high-performance driver with its
Alpha X-1
HORN-LOADED THREE-WAY HI-POWER LOUDSPEAKER SYSTEM
True Constant Directivity horn
(90° x 40° or 60° x 40°, according
to choice) offers in the range from
800 Hz to 8 kHz truly dynamic mid-
high reproduction, rich in presence.
The brilliant high-frequency repro-
duction of the 90° and 60° horns is
ensured by a pair of diffraction or
ring radiators respectively. The Alpha
X-1‘s trapezoidal cabinet design
facilitates the formation of multiple-
component clusters. The Alpha X-1
can be driven in active two-way or
active three-way mode, according to
choice. But whichever mode is se-
lected, every loudspeaker chassis is
reliably protected by thermal circuit
breakers or halogen lamps against
critical power levels as well as short-
term thermal overload.
98
Their legend lies not only in their
extreme reliability but also in their
extraordinarily clean (and giganti-
cally powerful!) sound.
Alpha systems are to be found
in the most up-market, the most
fashionable and the most popular
clubs and discotheques in Las Vegas,
Miami and New York, throughout
Asia and the Middle East, and, of
course, also in Europe. The Alpha
guarantees a club enthusiastic
guests, thereby ensuring a sure
and swift return on its investment.
