Install the speakers in a cool, dry, clean, stable and horizontal
place.
To avoid electric shock, fire, injury, damage to the speakers, and
discoloration of the cabinet, install away from windows, heat
sources, sources of excessive vibration, dust, moisture, cold, rain,
water, falling objects, noise sources (transformers, motors, etc.)
and direct sunlight.
Do not insert a hand or object into the port or pick up the speaker
by holding the port, as it may cause personal injury or damage to
the speaker.
Any time you note distortion, reduce the volume control on your
receiver to a lower setting. Never allow your receiver to be driven
into “clipping”. Otherwise the speakers may be damaged.
When using a receiver with a rated output power higher than the
nominal input power of the speakers, care should be taken never
to exceed the speakers’ maximum input.
Do not attempt to modify or fix the speakers. Contact qualified
Yamaha service personnel when any service is needed. The cabi-
net should never be opened for any reasons.
Secure placement or installation is the owner’s respon-
sibility. Yamaha shall not be liable for any accident
caused by improper placement or installation of speak-
ers.
Check that the following items are included.
Speaker cable (2 m) x 2 / Front cover x 2
The speaker and the front cover are
packed separately. To attach the front
cover, line up the projections (magnets)
on the reverse side of the front cover
with their corresponding screw heads on
the speaker.
When the cover is removed, be sure not to touch the
speaker units with your hands or to exert excessive force
with tools.
BEFORE MAKING CONNECTIONS, MAKE SURE THAT
THE RECEIVER IS SWITCHED OFF.
When this unit is connected to the receiver, refer also to the owner’s
manual supplied with the receiver.
See page 1 for the connection method.
Place the speakers on a sturdy, vibration-free surface. You may
not be able to obtain good bass quality when the speakers are
placed directly on the floor. Put a block, etc. under the speakers.
Better stereo images will be obtained when the speakers are
slightly angled in towards the listening position.
Placing this unit too close to a CRT TV set might happen
impair picture color or create a buzzing noise. Should
this happen, move the speaker away from the TV set.
You can also use the screw holes on the bottom of the NS-BP400 for
installing the speakers on commercially available speaker stands.
Before installing, please refer to the instruction manual of the
speaker stand.

Taking care of the speaker
When you wipe this unit, do not use chemical solvents (ex.
alcohol or thinners etc.); this might damage the finish. Clean the
cabinet using a soft, dry cloth (such as a Yamaha Unicon cloth).
For heavy dirt, use a Yamaha Piano Unicon.
(For polish-finished model) Bumping the surface of the
instrument with metal, porcelain, or other hard objects can
cause the finish to crack or peel. Use caution.
A screw with a diameter of 4
mm can be used
(Hole depth: 10 mm, 3/8”)
