WordClock / FrameClock
The WordClock input can translate WordClock or FrameClock to the required Sample Rate. The “LOCK” LED on the front
panel indicates reception of a stable signal.
NOTE: When a “multiplexing” mode is used for digital audio transfers, the frame rate of the audio clock is equal to the
audio sample rate at up to 48kHz, half of the audio sample rate at up to 96kHz or a quarter of the audio sample rate at up
to 192kHz. The term “FrameClock” denotes an audio clock signal that is proportional but not always equal to the sample
rate, therefore:
• At 44.1kHz, 88.2kHz or 176.4kHz, the frame rate is 44.1kHz.
• At 48kHz, 96kHz or 192kHz, the frame rate is 48kHz.
NOTE: To understand this topic fully, it is important to read the AES MADI specification – AES 10 –2003 (www.aes.org
).
