Playing Discs
You can locate a particular point on a disc quickly by
monitoring the picture or playing back slowly.
Note
Depending on the DVD/VIDEO CD, you may not be able to do
some of the operations described.
Locating a point quickly (Search)
While a disc is playing, keep pressing #7 to locate a
point in playback direction at the 1M* speed or keep
pressing '3 to locate a point in opposite direction at
the 1m* speed. When you find the point you want,
release the button to return to normal playback speed.
* The 1M/1m playback speed is the same as the scan speed
described below.
Locating a point quickly by playing a disc
in fast forward or fast reverse (Scan)
Press or while playing a disc. When you find
the point you want, press H to return to normal speed.
Each time you press the
or button during
Speed scan, the playback speed changes. Three speeds are
available. With each press, the indication changes as
follows:
Playback direction
x2B (DVD/CD only) t 1M t 2M
Opposite direction
x2b (DVD only) t 1m t 2m
The x2B/x2b playback speed is about twice the normal speed.
The 2M/2m playback speed is faster than 1M/1m.
Searching for a Particular Point on a Disc Z
Locating a point slowly by watching the
screen (Slow-motion play)
You can use this function only for DVDs or VIDEO CDs.
Press
or when the player is in the pause mode.
When you find the point you want, press H to return to
the normal speed.
Each time you press the
or button during
Slow-motion play, the playback speed changes. Two
speeds are available. With each press, the indication
changes as follows:

Opposite direction (DVD only)

y 2
The 2 /2 playback speed is slower than 1 /1 .
Playing a disc frame by frame
You can use this function only for DVDs or VIDEO CDs.
When the player is in the pause mode, press #7 to go
to the next frame. Press '3 to go to the preceding
frame (DVD only). To return to normal playback, press
H.
