1 Press DISPLAY in stop mode.
The Setup Display appears.
2 Press < or , repeatedly to select
“AV,” then press ENTER.
3 Press M or m repeatedly to select an
item, then press ENTER.
4 Press M or m repeatedly to select a
setting, then press ENTER.
5 Press DISPLAY to turn off the Setup
Display.
x TV Type
Select the aspect ratio of the connected TV.
The default setting varies, depending on the
country model.
4:3 Pan Scan
4:3 Letter Box
16:9
Note
Depending on the DVD, “4:3 Letter Box” may be
selected automatically instead of “4:3 Pan Scan” or
vice versa.
x VCD Color Sys (Asian and Oceanian
models only)
Select the color system when you play a VIDEO
CD. The default setting is underlined.
x Dolby Digital
Set the Dolby Digital settings to enjoy 5.1
channel sound when an optional amplifier is
connected (see “Enjoying the 5.1 channel sound
with the optional amplifier” (page 42)).
x DTS
Set the DTS settings to enjoy 5.1 channel sound
when an optional amplifier is connected (see
“Enjoying the 5.1 channel sound with the
optional amplifier” (page 42)).
x Data CD Priority (MP3, JPEG only)
Set priority data you want to play, when you
play the data disc (CD-ROM/CD-R/CD-RW)
contained MP3 audio tracks and JPEG image
files. When you change this setting, eject and
reload the disc.
The default setting is underlined.
Adjusting the image and
audio settings
—AV
4:3 Pan Scan Select this when you connect a 4:3
screen TV. This setting displays the
wide picture on the entire screen and
cuts off the portions that do not fit.
4:3 Letter
Box
Select this when you connect a 4:3
screen TV. This setting displays a wide
picture with bands displayed on the
upper and lower portions of the screen.
16:9 Select this when you connect a wide-
screen TV or a TV with a wide mode
function.
Auto Outputs the video signal in the
system of the disc, either PAL or
NTSC. If your TV uses a dual
system, select “Auto.”
NTSC Changes the video signal of a PAL
disc and outputs it in the NTSC
system.
PAL Changes the video signal of an
NTSC disc and outputs it in the
PAL system.
MP3
If an MP3 file exists on the disc,
the system recognizes the disc as
an MP3 Disc. If only JPEG files
exist on the disc, the system
recognizes the disc as a JPEG
Disc.
JPEG If a JPEG file exists on the disc,
the system recognizes the disc as a
JPEG Disc. If only MP3 files exist
on the disc, the system recognizes
the disc as an MP3 Disc.
