MARANTZ 25REFERENCE SERIES
GMR
The SA7S1 Super Audio CD Player has launched integration into new heights of stunning, reference-quality
excellence. Perfect harmony with the other sections of this integrated player is ensured by our highly advanced
D2F – Dynamic Digital Filtering technology, which use the Marantz own filter characteristic. The result is the most
detailed and dynamic reproduction ever heard. In addition, and unique to Marantz, is our full separation of digital
and analogue sections, this not only separates the digital and analogue power supplies but separates them at
ground level as well – thanks to the new GMR (Giant Magneto Resistor) technology – completely avoiding any
influence of digital noise on the sensitive analogue. Further options are external clock input and digital phase
inverting. And because the whole unit is as ‘solid as a rock’, with a metal tray disc mechanism, copper-shielded
chassis, high-grade power supply and best-in-class components, this player represents absolute uncompromising
quality, designed, engineered and created for the uncompromising ear.

MARANTZ24
REFERENCE SERIES
e SA7S1 is truly a no-compromise piece of engineering. It is the Marantz flagship Super Audio CD
Player and it provides the superb sound quality that the SC7S2 and MA9S2 deserve. It follows the
legendary SA1 (1999-2002) and CD7 and incorporates key features from both, retaining the excellent
SACD playability and customised digital filter technology for CD players – first seen in the CD7.
In addition, because Marantz more than ever is totally committed to unsurpassed quality reproduction
we gave the new SA7S1 an unsurpassed treatment in terms of extreme engineering and the utmost
attention to detail. As you would expect from such a prestigious piece of work, it features a solid base
cabinet, large ring transformer, and copper plating.
NEWLY DEVELOPED ORIGINAL DISC LOADING MECHANISM
As proven by our digital filtering technology: when the market is short in top-quality solutions our
engineers develop their own. at’s why we developed the Marantz mechanism SACDM-1 (Super
Audio Compact Disc Mechanism 1). Its die-cast construction uses micro precision metals to guarantee
the best and cleanest data read-out ever, even on the high speed rotating SACDs. e metal tray is
coated with a non-reflecting material to prevent light reflection, which may trouble the laser light. And
thanks to the solid-as-a-rock metal body there is no chance of vibration influence. Only supreme, pure
digital signal will emerge to feed the digital filters and the D/A converters.
We proudly present you the ultimate sound machine. Because music matters.
REFERENCE TECHNOLOGIES
CHOKE INPUT TOPOLOGY
In the power supply section, the choke input topology is adopted to drastically
reduce rectier harmonic noise and to reduce the inuence of distortion from
the mains power network. This system is especially suitable for a control
amplier in which very small signal amplication occurs.
SHOTTKY DIODES
A Shottky diode is a special type of diode with a very low forward-voltage
drop compared to normal diodes. This lower voltage drop translates into
higher system efciency.
Shottky diodes have very fast signal handling, can easily stay higher
temperatures and are sensitive very low voltages.
LINEAR VOLUME CONTROL
Linear volume control offers minimal cross talk with a very precise volume
adjustment over a range from 0 dB to 100 dB with a gang error less than +/-
0.5 dB.
BTL
A BTL is a possibility to use two ampliers as one monoraul amplier. This
conguration, in theory quadruples the output power delivery to the speaker
and offers better control over it leading to a very control, dynamic and open
music reproduction.
WBT
Very high quality speaker terminals made by German speaker terminal
specialist WBT who has over 20 years of experience in production of best
sounding speaker terminals.
MARANTZ INNOVATIVE D2F – DYNAMIC DIGITAL
FILTERING
Some audio companies focus on sound modication by selecting and
customising electrical components for the analogue part of the player but they
have only limited knowledge of digital ltering and have to use standard
solutions – which Marantz believes to be sub-standard for a genuine
audiophile player. That’s why Marantz has invested extensively in gaining
expert knowledge into this crucial part of a CD player during CD playback.
The Marantz Digital Filter eliminates out-of-band noise, reflecting into a better
S/N ratio, dynamic range, and various other characteristics. There is no group
delay, and the player offers flat frequency characteristics. Filters of three
types are provided, and because each affords a distinctive sound, users can
switch to the desired lter for playback suiting the disc or their listening mood.
GMR – GIANT MAGNETIC RESISTOR
The Giant Magnetic Resistor is a technology compare able with an optical
coupler, makes it possible to separate two section of a product galvanic.
The GMR outperforms the optical coupler when it comes to high frequencies.
This big benet is used in this player to separate the digital section from the
analogue one and this even on the ground level.
No high frequency distortion to the sensitive audio signal; no influence to the
power for the audio stages.
FLOATING CONTROL BUS SYSTEM
A Marantz own communication system to connect pre- or integrated
ampliers over a dedicated bus line to enable synchronized operations. The
units are working as master and slave – the master unit controls the others.
F.C.B.S. can be used for a powerful bi-amping or a multichannel surround
setup.
