SPEAKER PLACEMENT
Proper placement of the speakers
is an important step in obtaining
the most realistic soundstage
possible. These recommendations
are for the optimum placement of
the loudspeakers. Use these
placement recommendations
as a guide. Slight variations
will not diminish your listening
pleasure.
INTRODUCTION
JBL’s HT Series takes advantage
of our latest technology to deliver
incredibly clean, detailed sound.
Incorporating JBL’s symmetrical
array design and exclusive Bi-
Radial
®
horn, these loudspeakers
deliver sound that is distributed
over a wide soundstage with
pinpoint imaging, and the HT4V is
THX
®
Ultra certified. The horn
should be directed at ear level in
order to maximize the imaging
characteristics. The Bi-Radial
horn design – which greatly
reduces room reverberation –
along with video-shielding, allows
greater placement flexibility within
the room. Ultrawide frequency
response and high power handling
combine to give you clear,
powerful sound that you get only
from genuine JBL. The HT
loudspeakers are perfect for
today’s Dolby* Digital and DTS
®
recordings.
The HT4H center-channel
loudspeaker is designed to
complement any of the HT Series
loudspeakers. It is the perfect
addition for re-creating the
cinematic experience in your hom
e.

HT4V
For optimum performance, use the
HT4H with the grille attached.
The front speakers should be
placed the same distance from
each other as they are from the
listening position. They should be
placed at about the same height
from the floor as the listeners’ ears
will be, or they may be angled
toward the listeners.
The HT4H center-channel speaker
should be placed slightly behind
the front left and right speakers,
and no more than two feet above
or below the tweeters of the left
and right speakers. It is often
convenient to set the center
speaker on top of the television
set, as shown in the drawing.
The two surround speakers should
be placed slightly behind the
listening position and, ideally,
should face each other and be at
a level higher than the listeners’
ears. If that is not possible, they
may be placed in the corners of
the room behind the listening
position, angled in toward the
center of the listening area. The
customer is responsible for proper
selection and use of mounting
hardware, available through
hardware stores, to properly and
safely wall-mount the speakers.
The surround speakers should not
call attention to themselves.
Experiment with their placement
until you hear a diffuse, ambient
sound accompanying the main-
program material heard in the
front speakers.
