In addition to personal or small group sound elds in the
classroom, teachers and administrators are also turning to the
use of classroom-wide sound elds. Numerous studies verify the
educational benets of sound eld amplication systems, including
increased on-task behavior and student attention to oral instruction,
improved comprehension among ELL students, and reduced
vocal strain and fatigue for teachers.
As administrators strive to meet NCLB goals, they must also address
groups with diverse needs such as ELL, ESL and students with special
needs. Teachers need to convey audio information to students in all
of these groups in a clear, concise manner.
The Classroom Infrared Audio System can help teachers teach and how students learn. The system
includes two array speakers for superior sound distribution (or an optional four speakers for larger rooms).
Array speakers (commonly seen at concerts) focus a narrow band of sound directly at the students instead
of bouncing it o the walls in a random and confusing fashion. This enhanced sound projection improves the
critical signal-to-noise ratio, therefore improving the clarity and intelligibility of the amplied audio. Also
included are two wireless mics (one for the teacher and a hand held mic for shared student use), so all speakers in the class are
assured of being heard, even when the system is connected for teleconferencing.
MP3 Player
The NC500TFC headphone can also be used with
the Califone MP3 Player (the rst model to feature
dual headphone jacks, a built-in microphone for
student podcasting, and restriction of the volume
playback to 85dB).
