Quiet volume on PS-T20 turntable...

I have tried this PS-T20 turntable on 2 different stereos. Both are multiple channel systems and I have to have the volume at max in order to get any volume out of turntable. I have tried different channels, some getting no volume. It works either on "MD/TAPE" or "CD" or "DVD", not on "video 1 or 2". I am at a loss as to why it's such quiet volume with both stereos at max volume. Does this turntable need a separate amp?

0 I just bought this turntable and connected it to the auxilary imput on my phillips home theater system and had the same problem. Did you figure out a solution? Does it need a a separate amp? How can I get the volume louder?

0 yes you need to run it through a pre-amp, I got one for $30 at a local record shop
