it would appear that recordings are made on the cd but it would not play

0 First check to see if you finalized it. Other things you may want to check, what format did you you record to on the cd, I always use mp3 or wav for playback on commercial playback cd players such as in the car or home, also make sure you record the cd in the slowest speed your burner allows, usually 4,6,8x however if you have the option to go lower do it! This is a sure fire way to get them to play on even cheaper boom box systems without systems.
