how do I turn the memory off ,it wont let me play ...

how do I turn the memory off ,it wont let me play the cd i want, I dont know how I turned it on, i am trying out for a band that has hits in8 different countries, i have to have this thing working normally in manual mode..it wants to lay the second disk number 12 and i cant manually enter the 1 disk , it wont let me
