Question About Samsung Home Theater System HT-X50
Shuts down by itself...

I have the same problem as above, in the readout glass all of a sudden the word PROTECTION comes on and the system shuts down

5 I had the above problem and I had an extended warrantee so I returned the unit and yes the motherboard needs to be replaced and the cost marked on the repair sheet is $207.00

0 I have HT-X200 that is doing exactly the same. I get a click sound and the unit goes into 'PROTECTION' and goes to standby. This is now happening every 10 minutes. Any clues anyone?

0 I've had my HT-X50 for 13 months, no problems. Watched 4 hours of shows yesterday, shut it off, now Protection mode w/click within minutes of restarting. Can't stop this issue. Pulled power from console and removed batteries from remote - after returning power runs 16 minutes then shuts down w/Protection issue. I need help, too.

0 Samsung is refusing to do anything about the problem - said there has not been enough complaints. I have sent them a nasty e-mail and threatened to go to the Better Business Bureau and the newspapers. It is ridiculous to buy a unit , have it for just over the warranty period and then have it rendered useless. One person had the entire motherboard replaced for $207.00 - what kind of company is Samsung anywaya.

0 We too are having this problem with unit shutting off but just prior the "Protection" appears in the display.
