Question About Samsung Home Theater System HT-X40
shut down...

In 5.1 cinema mode the unti shuts down showing protection. you can power up and it stays up for a few minutes. Think its overheating - blew out fan area and placed on shelf by itself?

5 In mine one of the output filter capacitors got broken - it had a crack on its body. Replacement of the capacitor fixed the shutdown on protection. Another question is what damaged the cap. Preliminary I consider placement of the capacitors as a possible problem - they are too close to the output inductors which can get relatively hot even at normal working condition. 0 Exactly the same problem right down to the exploded capacitor. Reveresed the fan to draw air into the hot spot.
