Question About Pioneer CD Player PDR-509
PDR 509...

The problem is it will not burn completly, it stops after about half way through the burning process.

0 The unit records "live" audio, so does it quit while you are recording something or during the 4-4:30 min.,. Finalizing process?

0 It stops during recording, the finalizing process works fine. I talked to someone from the place where I bought it about ten years ago and they said something about an optical lens or something, and that repairing it would be more expensive than the unit it self?? I´m very happy with it otherwise, so any help to fix the problem is welcome. Thanx!

0 Well, considering the unit isn't sold new anywhere I know, you may want get an accurate estimate on the unit for repair then compare that with what you can find on eBay. I love the PDR 509, I bought another one on ebay for $120 just in case something happened to mine. As far as the problem itself, I don't know what's up there, does it stop at a specific time? If you are recording 5 min. of audio, does it crap out at 2 min.?

0 It stops whenever it feels like it, and sometimes if I´m lucky it works all the way through the cd, but I have to sit and watch it the whole time and the usual thing is that it cuts out after about half the cd, puts itself on "paus" for a second and then continues to record..But then the song is already ruined. So I will check out Ebay and also get a more exact check of the unit. I also love this machine, otherwise I´ll just look for a new machine. Thanx for the tip. /Micke

0 Have you tried changing up the brand of Music CD-R's you use? Also, maybe if the CD's are out of the same batch, maybe they are damaged (heat). I've used memorex for years and never have had a problem.

0 I have tried that too. And I also used Memorex for a long time, I also tried Sony and Verbatim, Maxell and a few other brands, same problem I´m afraid...Also Fuji-Audio cd that worked really well until this problem emerged.

0 Have you tried recording right after the stoppage occurs? I'm thinking if its an overheating issue, it would not allow you to do so for a while.

0 Radio Shack and Amazon still carries Memorex Music CD-R's, these are the ones that say "Digital Audio" on them because they have a special code embeded that tells the recorder that they can be used. These CD-R's are slightly higher in price because royalties are paid to the music industry.

0 Hi, this is someone else with the same PDR-509 problem. Finalizing hangs with 2:36 left to go. If I stop and try again, I get a Repair Disc message. Strange thing is it plays fine in the burner regardless. Was wondering if trying a lens cleaner would work. Thanks.

0 Hello. My problem is that my 509 suddenly now dont accept the cds i alwayes uses (TDK audio). Just sy "cant read" or something. It goes all the way an read "new record and so but when i press "rec" it refuses. Love the thing. Any suggestions exept eBay?
