head phones work for 10 seconds or so and then qui...

head phones work for 10 seconds or so and then quit for 5 seconds then run for 10 or so and quit again. blue light on the head set flashes slowly. I have tried new standard batteries and also 2 sets of rechargeables that I know work and are charged.
