When attempting to turn on the receiver with the remote it will not work. After you turn it on with the power switch and it warms up the remote works fine in all useages. I thought it might be the remote and purchased a new remote, no help. I returned the remote I bought and tried resetting the old one, no help. As I said after the receivere warms up everyhthing works fine using the remote. The manual controls on the receiver work fine all the time.

0 The Kenwood VR-510 does indeed respond to IR remotes. I now use a Logitech Harmony H659 which is IR only. Your issue is a problem with the VR-510, actually the whole series had a problem with cold solder joints on an assembly behind the front panel. Fix that and fix the problem. It frustrated me for 5 yrs. Go here for the fix: This site has the fix well documented: . All is working great now!
