What to do whan cd is put in , cover closed, start button depressed and disc turns at hi speed and does not slo and play?

5 The problem could be that the laser that reads the disc doesn't work properly so it won't slow down to read the disc. I'd suggest pressing the open button. Taking out the cd. Then with a piece if foam or soft tissue clean off the laser very carefully. Do not scratch the laser.
