cannot get sound from tv(Emerson tv} to soundbar. ...

cannot get sound from tv(Emerson tv} to soundbar. seems to be hooked up correctly. matched up cables by color with cables that came with the sound bar. seems really simple but all I get is a buzzing sound. remote may not be working properly. hard to tell..
