i have connected all the wires correctly, i check all connections atleast 4 times, the speaker is a 10" sony xplod subwoofer rated at 4ohms and 1100 watts max. which works properly. when i turn the key everything will turn on, including the amp, however it turn on in protected mode. it stays on for about one second and shuts off. i have checked all wire connections and they are all connected properly. i bought a new wiring harness to the head unit and replaced that. i returned the amp for a new one the same kind and i have the same problem so it has to be something i'm doing wrong. what could it possibly be?

4 Some vehicle's metal parts are not completely grounded with the battery. I ran into this same problem. The solution is to move your amp's ground wire and ground in a different area. You can use a jumper wire for testing different areas on different metal parts as your amp's ground wire is probably very short. Once you locate an area that works you may have to relocate your amp to the new area. Hope this helps.

0 check ur fuse coming from the battery cuz i had the same problem with my kenwood amp it would turn on the subs would hit and then it would shut off. so i thought it was my amp so i got a new one and come to find out it was just my inline fuse coming off the battery. i hooked my 600 watt dual amp up and had no problems with the protection coming on or anything so the guy that told u the dual amps are junk is full of ****. so i would just try changing ur inline fuse and holder.

0 I have a dual 580 watt amp and up until recently it was fine. But within the last week it just shuts off. I put in another one and same thing, it goes for maybe a minute when it's loud then the yellow light changes red and shuts off. But then I turn the radio down and it takes a minute or so then it will turn back on. WTF I don't know what I'm doing wrong....please help...

0 it might be your sub. i had the same problem. i have the same amp and i had the gone through the same stuff. i took it to a local audio place and they said it was goin into protection mode because the sub i had was messed up, and it detected the bad sub, he removed my sub and touched the wires on a old speaker he had and it instanly started working. try another sub
