my computer says no audio device is installed and ...

my computer says no audio device is installed and the speakers have been installed for years now. ive restarted the computer, unplugged it and plugged it back in still didnt work, tried to find the thing to download it and it said that it failed while installing then said to get a hold of the company. how do i make them work again?
