I purchase a used CR73-3 model console for Christm...

I purchase a used CR73-3 model console for Christmas for my son. Aesthetically it's in beautiful condition but I cannot get the CD player to open. I contacted the seller who explained this item was a deceased relative's and he didn't have the manual or any experience using the components. Any suggestions?
