green power light on subwoofer dims and all sound cuts out. What is wrong, and how can I fix it?

0 I've got the manual...and doesn't offer any assistance other than "take it to a repair shop" which I'd rather not spend money on it when it's 13-14 years old and probably would be cheaper to just buy a new one. I'm a techie, have all sorts of techie tools and a soldering set up...so I'm just looking for some advice to possible problems before I open the thing up. Is this a common problem with these units? It worked fine for many years til recently when the power light dimmed and all sound cut out. For a while it would work again just by turning it off/on but now it's always dim. If I hold down the power button it works, so I'm assuming power button has the issue? Thanks for any feedback!
