Why cant I play radio or CD from my Bush Micro system with...

Why can't I play radio or CD from my Bush Micro system with bluetooth and DAB through either of my new bluetooth speakers. The micro says it has 'connected' and the speaker makes appropriate beeps and flashes but no sound emanates even at very close range.
