Listening to a digital component

1 Connect the digital optical cord.

2 Press FUNCTION repeatedly until
“OPTICAL IN” appears.
Start playing the connected component.
Listening to an analog
component such as a cassette
deck
1 Connect audio cords.

2 Press FUNCTION repeatedly until
“ANALOG IN” appears.
Start playing the connected component.
Making a digital recording from a
digital component
The Serial Copy Management System (page 64)
may prevent you from making a digital
recording of certain material. In this case,
connect the component to ANALOG IN jacks
and make an analog recording.
1 Connect the digital optical cord.
2 Start recording manually.

(page 17) or “Recording on a tape manually”
(page 41).
Note
When Smart Space/Auto Cut is set to on, the recording
pauses if no sound continues for 30 seconds or more
(page 20).
Tips
You can activate Time Machine Recording (page 18).
You can adjust the recording level when recording on
an MD (page 21).
Making an analog recording from
an analog component
1 Connect audio cords.
2 Start recording manually.

You can select the “PC” function when recording on a
