“S.Space” appears, then press ENTER/
YES.
5 Press . or > repeatedly until
“S.Space On” appears, then press
ENTER/YES.
6 Press MENU/NO.

procedures described for each type of
recording.
To turn off the Smart Space
Function
In step 5, press . or > repeatedly until
“S.Space Off” appears, then press ENTER/YES.
When recording on an MD, you can adjust the
recording level to the desired volume. You can
adjust the recording level not only when making
an analog recording, but also when making a
digital recording from a CD, etc.
1 Press FUNCTION repeatedly to select
the desired source to record.
2 Press MD z.
The MD deck stands by for recording.
3 Start playing the desired source to
record.
4 Press MENU/NO to display “Setup?”,
then press ENTER/YES.
5 Press . or > repeatedly until
“LevelAdjust?” appears, then press
ENTER/YES.
6 Press . or > repeatedly to adjust
the recording level.
Adjust to the optimum level while making
sure that “OVER” does not appear in the
display at the loudest portion.
7 Press ENTER/YES.
8 Press MENU/NO.
9 Press x.
The MD deck stops.
To continue recording, follow the
procedures described for each type of
recording.
Tips
You can also adjust the recording level during
recording.
Once adjusted, the recording level is maintained until
you adjust it again.
You cannot adjust the recording level during CD-
MD Synchro Recording.
