SIIG B-Speech Strex Stereo Receiver User Manual

Introduction
The B-Speech® strex Bluetooth Stereo receiver offers the latest innovation in Bluetooth technology. The strex unit
wirelessly receives stereo audio sound from a Bluetooth Stereo Transmitter or a Bluetooth enabled PC with suitable
software. strex plays the received sound through stereo earphones which can be plugged into Rx's 3.5mm jack
socket.
strex is also capable of simultaneous connection to a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. You need never miss a call
while enjoying your music wirelessly.
Often the strex and a stereo transmitter will 'plug and play'. With strex in pairing mode the transmitter will search,
pair, and connect itself automatically to strex. The transmitter might be built in to your Bluetooth enabled music
player and, using Bluetooth technology, will wirelessly send music to strex and hence your earphones. Provided the
transmitter is within range of strex you will be able to listen to music from your music player - wirelessly. You'll
also be able to interrupt the music to take and make phone calls on a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone.
Getting started
Remove all components from the package. Items in the pack include: strex receiver, earphones, USB Charging
cable and this User Guide. Please check the contents carefully and contact your local dealer immediately if anything
is missing or damaged.
Getting to know your strex
To Charge the strex
Before using the strex, you must charge it for approximately 2 hours. Fully charged, it can provide up to 6 hours of
playing time and 120 hours of standby time.
1. Insert the mini USB-B plug of the charging cable into the mini USB-B socket on the strex
2. Insert the USB-A plug on the other end of the USB charging cable into a powered USB-A socket on a PC or
laptop computer. During charging, the LED will be on constantly.
3. When charging is finished, the LED will turn off.
4. Unplug the USB charging cable.
Pairing your strex with a Stereo Transmitter
Pairing is the Bluetooth process of establishing the wireless link between strex and a Bluetooth dongle, a Bluetooth
audio transmitter or a Bluetooth-enabled Notebook PC. Before you can use strex you must pair it with one of these
devices. Normally you only have to do this once. After pairing is complete the units will (provided they are within
range) find each other and reconnect automatically at switch on.
After pairing is complete, you can use the strex only with the device that you just paired with. If you wish to use
strex with a different Bluetooth device, you'll need to redo the pairing process with the new device. In this case the
strex will no longer work with the previously paired Bluetooth device unless you pair them again.
Important Note (1):
strex will only pair with transmitters that have the built-in PIN code: '0000'
To pair strex with a Stereo Transmitter device using the A2DP Profile
1. Before you commence pairing please ensure that both units are fully charged.
2. Try to ensure that no other nearby Bluetooth devices are active or in pairing mode.
3. Make sure the transmitter supports the Bluetooth A2DP profile. (For Bluetooth-enabled PCs or Notebooks you
must have a Bluetooth driver which supports the A2DP profile.)
4. To turn on strex press and hold the Talk button for about 2 seconds until the LED begins to flash. strex is now
turned on and in pairing mode; the LED will flash quickly to indicate paring mode.
5. Ensure Rx is within 3 metres of the transmitter, PC or notebook.
6. Initiate the A2DP supported device discovery feature on the transmitter. Refer to your transmitter's User Guide
if you are not sure how to do this.
7. A transmitter unit should find strex and pair with it. This is indicated by the LED on strex which will begin to flash
slowly (approx once per second).
8. For PCs and Notebooks please note that strex's Bluetooth name is "AV_HSF".
9. Enter the default pin code "0000", when the PC requests a password.
10. When paired with the PC, the LED on strex will begin to flash slowly (approx once per second).
Switching your strex On / Off
To turn on your strex - Press and hold the Talk button for about 2 seconds, until the LED flashes. Release the Talk
button. strex is now turned on and ready to use; the blue LED will flash to indicate strex is turned on.
To turn off your sterx - Press and hold the Talk button for about 3 seconds. The blue LED will change from flashing
to being permanently on. Release the Talk button. strex will turn off and the LED will stop flashing.
Playing Music
1. Plug your earphones into strex's audio jack socket and switch strex on.
2. Ensure the stereo transmitter or PC is switched on and is within 3 metres of strex.
3. The blue LED on Rx will continue to flash slowly to indicate it is connected.
4. If the connection is lost try moving strex closer to the transmitter and they will reconnect automatically.
5. If the audio becomes noisy or breaks up try moving the strex closer to the transmitter.
Notes:
1. If the connection is lost auto-reconnection should occur within a few seconds of the devices being brought back
into range. Otherwise, after about 60 seconds, Strex will go into Idle Mode to save power and the blue LED will
flash very slowly (once every 5 seconds).
2. In normal operation strex and a stereo transmitter will maintain their Bluetooth connection once they have been
paired and switched on. If they disconnect or the link is lost, it may be for the following reasons:
i. The range is over 10 metres between them or there is an obstacle in the way.
ii. Either device has been switched off or the battery needs recharged.
Using strex with your Mobile Phone
While using strex and wearing earphones you can make and receive calls using strex's built-in microphone. There is
no need to remove the earphones to make calls. Just position Strex on your shirt or lapel so that you can speak into
the built-in microphone.
Before you can use strex with your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone you must pair strex with the phone. Pairing is
the process of linking strex with your phone. After pairing is complete, you can use strex only with the paired mobi-
le phone. If you wish to use strex with a different mobile phone, you must redo the pairing process with the new
mobile phone. In this case, strex will no longer work with the previous mobile phone unless you pair them again.
