1 to 4 Professional Bi-Directional Cable Amplifier
Your RadioShack 1 to 4 Professional Bi-Directional Cable Amplifier is
designed for use with a drop distribution cable TV (CATV) system that
requires bi-directional transmission in the interactive network. It mini-
mizes signal loss for long cable runs and also amplifies and distributes
the signal smoothly to four Internet-access and pay-per-view services.
The amplifier’s high gain amplifies a weak signal to produce a good
picture.
Its features include:
54-1000 MHz Forward Path and 5-40 MHz Reverse Path
— this fre-
quency range covers the 300-450 MHz Hyper-Band and provides ex-
cellent amplification for the forward path of a drop CATV system.
FR-4 Glass Fiber PCB and Sophisticated SMT (Surface Mount
Technology)
— provides reliable and excellent performance.
High Stability Zinc Alloy Die-Cast Housing
— prevents radio-fre-
quency interference and heat-sinking problems.
Important:
This amplifier is intended for indoor use only.
Note to the CATV System Installer:
This reminder is provided to call
the CATV system installer’s attention to Section 820-40 of the NEC,
which provides guidelines for proper grounding and, in particular,
specifies that the cable ground shall be connected to the grounding
system of the building, as close to the point of cable entry as practical.
CONNECTIONS
Caution:
Use only coaxial cable (not supplied) to make the connec-
tions. Your local RadioShack store carries suitable cable.
1. Remove the plastic cover from the input and output terminals.
2. Connect the CATV’s drop cable to the amplifier’s
INPUT
terminal.
3. Connect the amplifier’s
OUT/+7 dB
terminal(s) to the 75 ohm input
terminal of your TV, VCR, or dwelling network.
4. Connect the supplied AC adapter’s barrel plug to the amplifier’s
12–16 VDC 200mA
jack, then plug the AC adapter into a standard
AC outlet. The amplifier’s power indicator lights.
Cautions:
You must use a Class 2 power source that supplies 12V
DC and delivers at least 200 mA. Its center tip must be
set to positive and its plug must fit the amplifier's
12–16V
DC 200 mA
jack. The supplied adapter meets these specifications.
Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could
damage the amplifier or the adapter.
Always connect the AC adapter to the amplifier before you con-
nect it to AC power. When you finish, disconnect the adapter from
AC power before you disconnect it from the amplifier.
Notes:
This amplifier is designed to amplify existing signals and to deliver
a strong signal through multiple in-home connections. It will not
improve a poor signal.
To avoid signal loss, reflections, or “shadows” in your picture, out-
put terminals that are not connected to a receiver should be termi-
nated using the supplied terminating resistors.
WARNING:
To reduce the risk of fire or shock hazard, do not expose this
product to rain or moisture.
