Dual Tuner Installation Instructions
Installing The Tuner Modules in the Controller
1. Remove the cover from the controller.
2. With the back of the unit facing you, remove the screws from both
Tuner Option cover plates on the right side of the rear panel and
remove the plates. Retain the screws, as they will be used to secure
the tuners.
3. Carefully insert Tuner 2 in the lower slot, electronics facing up, and
secure with the screws from the Tuner Option plate.
Note: Make sure not to damage the white ribbon cable on the top of
the Tuner module.
4. Connect the Tuner 2 connector on the ribbon cable to Tuner 2 (see
FIG. 2).
Note: The ribbon cable must be oriented so that the red stripe is con-
nected to Pin 1 on the connector.
5. Carefully insert Tuner 1 in the upper slot, electronics facing up, and
secure with the two remaining screws from the Tuner Option plates.
6. Connect the Tuner 1 connector on the ribbon cable to Tuner 1 (see
FIG. 2).
7. Connect the Rear Panel connector on the ribbon cable to the rear
board pin-bus with the red stripe at the top (see FIG. 2).
The ribbon cable should be connected as shown in FIG. 6 and con-
nected to the Rear Panel as shown in FIG. 4.
Note: The ribbon cable must be oriented so that the red stripe is con-
nected to Pin 1 on the connector.
Setting the Jumpers in the Controller
Examine the configuration of the jumpers on the rear board (see FIG. 5).
The jumpers should be in the “Off” position, with the top pair of pins in
each configuration exposed and the jumpers connecting the second and
third set of pins.
Move the top and bottom set of jumpers to the “On” position,
connecting the first two sets of pins and leaving the third set exposed.
Reconnect power to the unit and turn it on to make sure that the
tuners are properly integrated with the controller.
If both tuners are functioning properly, remove power and replace the
unit cover.
Setting the Jumpers on the Tuner Modules
When installing two tuner modules, the jumper settings on the tuners
themselves must change as well as the rear panel jumpers (to identify
each Tuner module as Tuner 1 or Tuner 2).
Examine the configuration of the jumpers located on the Tuner Modules,
to the right of the 20-pin ribbon cable connector (as seen when viewing
the installed modules from the front of the controller).
Note that there are two rows of 5 pins as shown in FIG. 7.
With only a single tuner, all pins are jumpered.
Note: All DAS-AMFM AM/FM Tuner Modules are shipped in the single
tuner configuration.
Removing the Pre-Installed Tuner Module
Mi Series Audio Controllers include one DAS-AMFM Tuner Module as a
standard accessory. Since each tuner module uses one source input on
the audio controller, in some cases it may be desirable to remove the
tuner module in order to use that source input for other purposes.
WARNING: Disconnect all power sources before opening the chassis.
Failure to disconnect power before performing this installation may cause
injury or death.
1. Remove the cover from the controller.
2. Carefully remove the ribbon cable from the tuner module.
3. Remove the screws from the Tuner module cover plate at the right
top corner of the rear panel and slide the tuner module out of the
chassis.
4. Place all jumpers in the “Off” position (FIG. 8).
5. Replace the unit cover.
