Ventilation

I own the above Reciever and the instruction book states that clearance above the reciever should be 30cm. Is this a misprint.? 30cm. is app.12 inches.I have run the thing for several hours,and find it quite cool , so why 30cm.?..........I would like to house it on my TV base but there is no way I can give it a clearance of 30cm. Please clarify.
