  I have a PD-M435 that is doing the same thing. Took it apart today and it appears that the laser lens is gone!? A quick look at parts houses seem to indicate that a new laser thing can be had for about $75.00. (PD-M430 and PD-M435 and PD-M431 all are essentially the same.)

  We took our machine apart also and found the laser lens had fallen out. We were able to glue it back in and it works fine. A little tricky though as you don't want to get glue on the lens.

  I never found the lense that has fallen out. Decided that $75 is too much to pay for a new assembly especially when I'm not sure it's the only problem
